I’ll admit, I hadn’t heard of Purity Ring until I got my hands on an advance copy of their debut album, Shrines. I was immediately captivated by what I heard. Their sound is suspiciously dark yet poppy all at once.  Smooth flowing beats accompanied by melodic synths and hauntingly distant vocals set the stage for some of the best night driving music I’ve come across in quite some time.

If any of you are familiar with Discovery (side project of Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend), you’ll definitely find remarkable similarities between them and Purity Ring, although Purity Ring has a much darker and more mature vibe. Below are a few of the standout tracks. Buy the album HERE.
